And yet. Spring comes. How dare Nature remind us we are a part of it, not the Dominator we believe sometimes.

An yet. There is beauty within and without.

I'm in 5b in Quebec and snow is falling, the wind blowing it around, a believable image of another season. I'll bet there will be kids in the playground today, anyways. Maybe I'll join them on the swings! Remember to laugh in times that are not what we would wish.

Actually, Noah, ive had these photos on my mind this morning. I hear your feelings about snow in April and, despite this, you've made and shared these ethereal images that are sighs of wonder onto themselves, whispers that say, Do not give into despair.

It's still snowing here!

Your post reminds me of the opening lines of The Wasteland; “April is the cruelest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land, mixing

memory and desire, stirring

dull roots with spring rain.”

Dang, Noah! Of course, I hear you, and we have this situation in Wisconsin all the time. But I continue to think of April snow as part of the spring experience. I'm with you, though: don't even think about putting on the hose until Memorial Day.

The nihilism here perfectly articulates my feelings around April snow, especially past the midway point. I think when climate change finally takes this though, we'll know it's really over.

You inspired me to look up my USDA zone, because what you wrote felt all too familiar. Sure enough - I'm in 5b too. We are supposed to get snow on Friday. Trees have started to leaf. Which means sap is starting to flow. Which leads to lots and lots of broken branches when spring snows falls. One of our American Elms suffered a bad break during an early fall snow this year. Let's hope they survive less trauma this weekend. I'll also be crushed by the destruction of the delicate white blossoms on the apple tree.

I feel you. I’m on the cusp of 5a and 4b and we always get April snow and I always hate it! And I’m a skier -I love the snow-but it’s April. I’m done!

Fellow 5b here. I said just the other day that spring can be the cruelest of seasons and snow in April is the perfect example. At this point I can take any more clouds, cold, and certainly not snow.

5B in April is a wild ride. I went to bed last night and panicked that I hadn't checked the low temps and had the hose attached...
